Google automatically enrolls users in two-step verification.

If you use Gmail or have a Google Account, turning on two-step verification is a good idea. It's an extra security measure that can keep you safe if your login details get stolen or leaked in a data breach. 

You might not think about it, but passwords are the biggest risk to your online security. They're easy to steal, hard to remember, and a pain to manage.

That extra step, like using a security key or your phone, means that even if someone has your username and password, they usually can't get into your account without your device.
