About the Client

Prairie Village Water Trust (PVWT) is a nonprofit water utility organization located in North Prairie, Wisconsin. Established in 1977, the Trust is responsible for providing and managing water services for Prairie Village, Roberts Woods, the Industrial Park, the Village of North Prairie, the Broadlands, and Ferris Fields.

The organization is committed to maintaining a dependable water supply, promoting responsible water resource management, and serving the needs of its customers and surrounding communities.

Prairie Village Water Trust needed its first website to establish a professional online presence, improve communication, and provide customers with convenient access to important water service information.

The Challenge

Before this project, Prairie Village Water Trust did not have a website.

Without a centralized online resource, customers had limited access to important information regarding water service announcements, billing procedures, water restrictions, and utility updates.

For a water utility, timely communication is essential. Customers need a reliable place to find information about service changes, water conservation requirements, payment options, and important notices.

The goal was to create an informative, organized, and accessible website that would improve transparency, simplify communication, and provide a dependable online resource for the communities served by the Trust.

Improving Communication with Water Customers

One of the most important goals of this project was to make essential water service information more accessible.

The website provides a central location where customers can find announcements, service updates, water restrictions, and information affecting their water supply.

Instead of relying entirely on traditional communication methods, Prairie Village Water Trust now has an online platform for sharing information with residents and businesses.

This helps customers stay informed about important utility matters while providing the organization with a more efficient way to communicate with the communities it serves.

Making Billing and Customer Services Easier

Convenience was an important consideration when developing the website.

Customers need straightforward access to billing instructions, payment options, and account-related information.

The website provides information about available payment methods, including online bill payment, payments by mail, and the office payment drop box.

It also helps customers learn about electronic invoicing and paperless billing options.

By organizing these resources in one location, the website makes routine utility information easier to access and helps reduce confusion about payment procedures.

Providing Water Quality and Conservation Resources

Water quality, conservation, and responsible resource management are important responsibilities of Prairie Village Water Trust.

The website provides access to water quality information, Consumer Confidence Reports, watering restrictions, and other public documents.

These resources help customers better understand the water system, stay informed about conservation requirements, and access information about the utility's operations.

The website also includes frequently asked questions addressing common customer concerns, such as water pressure, service issues, and water system procedures.

By making this information available online, the Trust has a valuable educational resource for residents and businesses.

Supporting Transparency and Community Awareness

As a nonprofit organization responsible for an essential public service, Prairie Village Water Trust benefits from clear and accessible communication.

The website introduces the organization's history, structure, leadership, and service responsibilities.

It also provides a place to share information about infrastructure improvements, maintenance projects, and ongoing water system developments.

This helps customers better understand how the Trust operates and the work involved in maintaining their water supply.

The website supports greater transparency while strengthening communication between the organization and the people it serves.

Establishing a Professional Online Presence

As Prairie Village Water Trust's first website, this project represents an important step in modernizing how the organization shares information.

The new website provides a professional digital home where residents, businesses, and other stakeholders can find important utility resources at their convenience.

Organized content, mobile-friendly design, and easy-to-find information help make the website useful for customers of different ages and technical abilities.

The website also creates a foundation for future announcements, public documents, service updates, and customer resources.

Empowering the Organization

As with all of my projects, the client maintains ownership and control of their digital assets.

The website was developed with long-term usability, flexibility, and ease of maintenance in mind.

My goal was to create more than an informational website. I wanted to provide Prairie Village Water Trust with a practical communication tool that supports its responsibilities and helps customers access essential information.

The website can continue to evolve as the organization's services, infrastructure projects, and community needs change.

The Outcome

Today, Prairie Village Water Trust has its first professional website, providing a centralized source of information for the communities it serves.

The website brings together important announcements, water restrictions, billing resources, water quality reports, customer information, and organizational updates in one accessible location.

With mobile-friendly layouts, organized navigation, and convenient access to essential resources, the Trust now has a digital platform that supports customer communication and public awareness.

Most importantly, the project established a professional online presence for an organization providing an essential community service.

This project demonstrates how a first website can help a nonprofit utility modernize communication, improve access to public information, and create a dependable digital resource for the residents and businesses it serves.
